General Services

To prevent electric shock and damage to the multimeter, do not allow water to get inside the unit.

Before opening the case, disconnect the test leads from it. Wipe the case periodically with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Do not use abrasives or solvents. Dirt or moisture in the input jacks can affect the reading of the instrument. In this regard, it is necessary to clean the input sockets, for which you need to perform the following steps:

  • Turn off the multimeter and disconnect the test leads.
  • Shake out the dirt that could get into the nests.
  • Soak a clean swab with a cleaning or lubricant (such as WD-40). The lubricant isolates the nests from dirt containing moisture.

Replacing the battery and fuse

To prevent incorrect readings that could result in electric shock or personal injury, replace the batteries as soon as the low battery indicator “” appears on the display.

Use only fuses with the following characteristics: FF400mA / 1000V, minimum cut-off level 10000 A FF10A / 500V, minimum cut-off level 10000 A. Before replacing the batteries, disconnect the test leads and any connectors from the circuit under test, turn off the multimeter and disconnect the test leads from it.

To replace the battery or fuse:

  1. Turn off the multimeter.
  2. Disconnect the test leads from the input jacks.
  3. Using a screwdriver, remove the two screws securing the battery cover.
  4. Remove the battery cover.
  5. Remove the used battery or damaged fuse.
  6. Insert a fresh 9 V battery (type 6F22) or a new fuse.
  7. Replace the battery cover and secure with two screws.
